I'm not writing a massively long book review for this one - but I feel like everyone needs to read it. I zipped through this audiobook (the audio version is available with Kindle Unlimited!), and I can't tell you how much I enjoyed Mellow's writing style! As much as I like the magic, I am very interested in seeing the other skills such as blades that have been hinted at and what training they went through to learn these skills. Though the supporting cast are great and I have no doubt will each star as main characters in the next books.Īs only the surface has been scratched of this family, secrets and the world. I do find it interesting that the first book concentrates on the youngest and least experienced if the sisters. When a desperate young lord asks an acquaintance of the Bassett's for help he has no idea who or what he has unleashed on himself and his lands. As formidable as they are separately together they are a force of nature. The three daughters are blessed/cursed with great powers. The Bassett family on the surface are a powerful noble family, but they are so much more. However what makes this series extra interesting it that it left me with many questions I wanted to know the answers to. I really enjoyed the empire/world building in this book. Welcome to the world of Aadilor, where lords and ladies can be murderers and thieves, and the most alluring notes are often the deadliest.
